Natural immunization in children is recommended before vaccinating them
Sociologist Robert Dingwall, member of the United Kingdom’s vaccination and immunization committee, has pointed out that it is preferable for children to contract immunity from covid 19 instead of being vaccinated, because given the mildness of the disease in young people, the option to vaccinate them should only be be handled as long as it is known that vaccines are completely safe and cause no more harm than good.
Professor Dingwall’s opinion is supported by several epidemiologists, where the professor also clarifies that covid 19 is no longer a major cause of death, and the natural infection of young people is a good way to strengthen population immunity in the long term. Dingwall suggests that the risk of vaccines should be taken into account and highlights how the vaccination recommendations for the population under 40 years of age had already been modified before the recent blood clots generated by the Astra Zeneca vaccine.
Through his social network on Twitter, Dingwall noted that: “Adolescents have an inherently low risk of Covid. Vaccines must be exceptionally safe to overcome this. ” Given the low risk of Covid for most adolescents, it is not immoral to think that they may be better protected by the natural immunity generated through infection than to ask them to risk a vaccine. ”
With the latest wave of covid 19 infections in the younger population, this is expected to be the last wave of mild cases as natural immunity in young people is yet to be achieved. Several scientists have agreed that natural immunity through the spread of COVID-19 will help ensure long-term immunity without the need for booster shots.
Paul Hunter, professor of health protection at the University of East Anglia pointed out something very important about natural immunity: “We know that vaccines don’t stop transmission long enough to generate herd immunity, particularly with Delta, and if we don’t go to obtain herd immunity, then it will circulate ”.

El Sociologo Robert Dingwall miembro del comité de vacunación e inmunizacion de Reino Unido ha señalado que es preferible que los niños contraigan inmunidad del covid 19 en vez de ser vacunados, pues dado lo leve de la enfermedad en los jóvenes, la opción de vacunarlos solo debía manejarse en tanto se sepa que las vacunas son totalmente seguras y no causen más daño que bien.
La opinión del profesor Dingwall es respaldada por varios epidemiólogos, donde además el profesor aclara que el covid 19 ya no es una causa importante de muerte, y la infección natural de los jóvenes es una buena forma de reforzar la inmunidad poblacional a largo plazo. Dingwall sugiera que se debe tener en cuenta el riesgo de las vacunas y resalta en como ya antes se habían modificado las recomendaciones de vacunación para la población menor de 40 años ante los recientes coágulos sanguíneos generados por la vacuna Astra Zeneca.
A través de su red social en Twitter Dingwall señalo que: “Los adolescentes tienen un riesgo intrínsecamente bajo de Covid . Las vacunas deben ser excepcionalmente seguras para superar esto”. Dado el bajo riesgo de Covid para la mayoría de los adolescentes, no es inmoral pensar que pueden estar mejor protegidos por la inmunidad natural generada a través de la infección que pedirles que se arriesguen a una vacuna”.
Con la última oleada de infecciones por covid 19 en la población más joven, se espera que esta sea la última oleada de casos leves pues la inmunidad natural en personas jóvenes esta por lograrse. Varios científicos han estado de acuerdo en que la inmunidad natural a través del contagio de covid 19 ayudara a garantizar una inmunidad a largo plazo sin necesidad de vacunas de refuerzo.
Paul Hunter, profesor de protección de la salud en la Universidad de East Anglia señalo algo muy importante respecto a la inmunidad natural: “Sabemos que las vacunas no detienen la transmisión lo suficiente como para generar inmunidad colectiva, particularmente con Delta, y si no vamos a obtener inmunidad colectiva, entonces circulará”.
